The short version

When you click a link from minisolar to a retailer and buy something, we may earn a commission from that retailer. You don’t pay any more. Commissions never change how we rank kits or which kits we show.

How our links work

Every link from minisolar to a retailer’s product goes through our own redirect address first. These addresses start with minisolar.co.uk/go/, followed by the retailer and the product. The redirect sends you straight on to the retailer.

We route links this way so that:

• we can switch a retailer’s links to an affiliate link in one place, when a retailer’s affiliate programme accepts us;
• we can count how many people click through to each retailer (see our privacy notice for what we record).

These links are marked as sponsored in the page code (rel="sponsored nofollow"), which tells search engines they may be commercial.

Which links earn money

Some or all of our retailer links may earn us a commission. Affiliate programmes approve sites one by one, and at launch many of our links are plain links that earn nothing. Over time, more of them may become affiliate links. We don’t label each link separately, so assume any link to a retailer could earn us money.

We don’t show display adverts, and we don’t publish sponsored content. If we ever add sponsored placements, they will be clearly labelled.

What commissions never affect

• Rankings. Kits are ranked by cost per kWh for your setup: the kit’s price divided by its expected output over 10 years. Whether a retailer pays us, and how much, isn’t part of the calculation. See our methodology.
• Which kits we show. Kits appear in our default lists because they’re compliant and available, not because a retailer pays us. We list retailers that pay us nothing alongside those that might.
• What we say. Compliance states, stock, prices and yield figures come from the data, whoever sells the kit.

How to tell

• If a link’s address starts with minisolar.co.uk/go/, assume it may earn us a commission.
• Links to official sources, such as the ENA register, legislation.gov.uk, Ofgem and gov.uk, are ordinary links and don’t earn anything.
• If you’d rather not use our links, you can search for the kit on the retailer’s site directly. The price should be the same.
