About minisolar

minisolar helps you buy a plug-in solar kit in the UK. It tells you which kits are in stock, what they cost, whether they’re compliant, and what they’re likely to produce and save at your home.

What minisolar is

• A live database. We check retailers’ stock and prices through the day and show when each was last checked. We store every change, so you can see price and stock history.
• A compliance check. Every kit is matched against the Energy Networks Association (ENA) type-test register, which a plug-in solar device must be on to be used legally in Great Britain. Kits that aren’t compliant, or that fall outside the GB rules, are clearly flagged and left out of our default lists.
• Tools for your setup. Enter your postcode district, which way your panels would face, how they’re mounted and how much you’re at home, and the site shows yield, savings, payback and cost per kWh for every kit.

What minisolar isn’t

• Not an installer or a shop. We don’t sell, fit or supply anything. You buy from the retailer.
• Not a hands-on review site, yet. We haven’t tested any kits ourselves. Kit information comes from the ENA register, manufacturers and retailers, plus our yield model. Kit pages say this clearly.
• Not electrical advice. We point to official guidance. If you’re unsure about your wiring, use a qualified electrician.

Who runs it

minisolar is an independent site run by a single editor, who reviews everything before it’s published. Our editorial policy explains how content is written, checked and corrected.

How we make money

Links to retailers go through our own redirect addresses, which start with /go/. Some or all of these links may earn us a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Commissions never affect our rankings or which kits we show. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
